We remove some of the soil when we ship. There are usually no issues with a plant out of soil or kept dry for a week or more. When you receive your plants, put them into a pot with moist soil. Give the roots opportunity to reach down for water. Please check to see if your plants should be watered at the time of year you purchase. Some don't get a lot of water in winter and some not a lot of water in summer. How often you water depends on how quickly your soil dries out. Most important, don't overwater. Water well and allow your plants to dry out. The photos on our website represent what plants look like when growing. We are not selling the plant in the photo. Whether your plant has flowers depends on whether it is flowering at that time. A pot may be one large plant or more than one plant. Plants grow at a different pace and different sizes so if you order 2 plants coming out of the same size pot, they may not be the same size.
Crassula argentea, native to South Africa, is an arborescent shrub to 6' in height or more. Forms branching, thick elephantine trunk topped with a canopy of shiny green ovate leaves. Dense floral masses of white star-shaped flowers in winter months. The jade plant is a popular subject for bonsai training due to the inherent gnarly character of the thickened trunk and the ease with which it can be pruned and trained. An excellent plant for brightly lit areas in the house, patio and in more temperate climes can be planted in the garden or landscape. Porous soil with adequate drainage. Bright light to full sun. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Protect from frost. Most well known of the crassulaceae family and maybe easiest go grow. They are winter growers and intolerant of frost. Offer light water in summer. If outdoors, fall through winter, water once a month or allow the rain to water your plants. Easily propogated by stem cuttings. Cutting tops make new plants and parent plants fuller.
